2024 ABRA
World Championship Show

World Show Recap

Did you know that the ABRA World Show starts organizing the following World Show prior to the completion of the show at hand? This endeavor to prepare and organize is a year-long task, coordinated by Ken Pickering with the help of the World Show committee, which is made up of the ABRA Board of Directors.

The 2024 ABRA World Show management was headed by the Owens Farm Show Management team from Oklahoma. Nancy, Jack, and their staff enabled the show to run smoothly and in a timely manner, never without a smile on their faces. This is a true testament to their desire for all exhibitors to enjoy their World Show experience. As president of ABRA, I would like to personally thank Nancy, Jack, and their staff for making the 2024 ABRA World Show memorable.

A big shout out of thanks to our Show Secretary, Diane Gage, and her staff for organizing all the entries, having packets for the exhibitors, posting results, and having all the paperwork in order, from gate sheets to the Horse Show tracker and print. Thank you for all you do.

With the addition of Youth and Amateur Walk Trot Ranch classes, the ranch division held its own with an increase of entries in all the classes. The dual approved NSBA entries increase by 75 entries, with all receiving five sets of NSBA points. A great way to accumulate NSBA year-end awards. All Breed NSBA Open and Non-Pro futurities are offered, and the Buckskin Bred classes proved to have the most increase of entries of all. Dinah Coop, the chair of the Buckskin Bred committee, has worked diligently to promote this division, the 2024 BB Registry being half-price and enabling horses to be registered going back Three generations for color verification.

When you think of the World Show, goals are set to win a prize. The 2024 ABRA World Show offered beautiful buckles for Champion and Reserve Champion; there were 20 Saddles for High Point All-Around Awards, 5 saddles awarded for Reserve All-Around Awards, 2 directors chairs, and 15 leather Duffel Bags and Backpacks for Reserve All-Around Awards. A huge THANK YOU to all our SONSORS for helping make these awards available to the exhibitors.

The Youth Ambassador competition was well represented in the Junior and Senior divisions. Congratulations to Emilee Yost, the 2024 Junior Ambassador, and Kara Flickinger, the 2024 Senior Ambassador. Enjoy representing ABRA while out and about showing and in other organizations you are involved with.

The Team Tournament was a hit again this year. More teams entered, and there was comradery among team members, cheering each other on during the designated classes. This year’s winner was the team “Last Man Standing.” Congratulations to all.

And don’t forget the ABRA Youth Judging Contest, which was held on Saturday prior to the start of the World Show. It was a great way to hone your judging skills and give reason to all those who participated.

Thank you to all who have helped make this show happen: ABRA Staff, the Board of Directors, the Show Secretary, the Show Management Team, the Sponsors, and last but not least, the trainers, exhibitors, and their families. Have a great year, and I look forward to seeing you all next year.
